The Puppy with Special Powers
I do not consider myself to be a sentimental man. Life has made me stand off and hardened to the constant bombardment life throws at us. However I have of late been proven wrong O so wrong.!
It all started nearly nine years ago when my Dear wife Maggie decided she wanted a German Shepherd Puppy. Well being able to deny her nothing we travelled and collected a puppy dog. I would have to say not the puppy dog I had envisioned but a large sable puppy that looked more like a lion cub than a German shepherd, still Maggie was happy and subsequently so was I.
In the early months of the puppy’s life I had no idea of his special powers. He had an ability to reach inside of your soul and firmly attach his love tendrils around your heart strings. Poor Maggie was totally in his power.
I stood back concentrating on my retrievers and leaving the naughty puppy with the special powers in my Maggie’s charge. I distinctly remember standing shaking my head on occasions at the naughty pup and the things he got away with, he stole and he begged, he tormented the retrievers and he chewed everything and Maggie just smiled ? He had her completely enthralled.
Time went by and the naughty puppy now named Oscar grew into a beautiful teenage boy. His presents demanded your attention in spite of your intentions that he should not be your concern and Maggie’s dog. Years passed and the naughty puppy with the special powers became the magnificent CH LEWEMMA NEW YORKER AT BRIGHTMEADOW and his powers over Maggie’s heart grew even stronger. Maggie and Oscar became a phrase within our circle of friends and his admirers like Strawberries and Cream, Champagne and Flowers. He became a dog that Maggie and I adored and where bursting with pride of and love for. He was a dog admired by many and loved by all. His special powers reaching inside the most hardened and touching their heart.
Well time passes so fast and we have had to say goodbye to the Naughty puppy with the special powers this week. After severely injuring himself last year and some recent complications with that injury, Maggie and I were forced to make the hardest decision of our lives and Oscar has crossed the Rainbow Bridge.
Maggie and I are devastated the naughty puppy with the special powers has pulled loose his love tendrils and along with them our hearts. We have all had and lost animals before but the Puppy with the special powers had climbed into our hearts and soul, his departure has left us numb with an unfillable Hole in our very being.
We will miss you Naughty Puppy
